What is it?
Under the provision of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, local authorities are required to produce a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) which will inform the public about opportunities to get involved with the plan making process.
While the six unitary authorities in Berkshire have agreed to produce a series of joint minerals and waste development plan documents it has been decided that in order to avoid confusion with their individual SCIs that a joint SCI should not be produced.
Consequently, it has been decided that to ensure a conformity of approach and meet the statutory minimum requirements, a joint consultation protocol should be adopted.
This approach has been agreed by both GOSE and PINS.
